New Music is Coming!

Hello Friends! 

Thought I’d share an update here since I’ve mentioned that I’m working on NEW MUSIC in the last couple emails, & of course on all the social media platforms. 

Speaking of social media (before we get to the new music) … to put it bluntly, social media sucks these days. Platforms that used to be fun & truly help us connect with our friends & fans have become very much the opposite, especially for artists. Independent artists, like myself, have spent years growing our following on social media sites, only to have those numbers, metrics, & algorithms turned against us in order to extract even more time, energy & money from us. Musicians in particular, have essentially become unpaid employees of these platforms - we drive others to engage & also stay on the site … thusly feeding the cycle of endless “engagement”, which is actually selling our data to companies that want us to buy stuff from them …. 

But I digress (sorry, I can’t help myself! I’m fed up with it!) ….. 

All that to say, I will still keep my social media profiles & will post upcoming shows & the occasional cat meme, but, you are more likely to find me in places where we can directly connect.

Don’t let the name freak you out. LOL.  It’s still me. But I started The Revolution as a space for me to WRITE. Like really write. As of now, I share long-form essays about what I believe is plaguing the music industry & why so many of us (artists & other creatives) are lacking true connection with our fans & friends. It is also a space for respectful discussion & new ideas around how artists can take our collective anger at the industry & alchemize it into courageous action, ideally making change for the better. I hope you’ll check it out & subscribe.

You can subscribe for free. All of the essays I’ve already shared & more about general topics concerning the music industry, AI & the ethics that need to be considered (especially with AI “art” - I prefer the term “slop” to art when speaking of anything AI would make), & what it’s like to be an independent artist today ARE ALL FREE. NO PAYWALL. I feel discussions around these topics are too important to our humanity to put behind a paywall.

I’m going to be sharing information about the new album behind the subscriber paywall. A paid subscription to my Substack is the ONLY place you can get the inside scoop on what I’m creating.

I’m separating the new music information from the general writing on my Substack because I am no longer going to allow my work to be extracted from me, for FREE, for some billionaire broligarch’s gain (ahem, can ya hear me Zuckerberg?). Artists work hard to create our art, & we deserve to be paid, the same as everyone else does for our labor.
